Product Information:

Author: Dr Peter Baratosy

It is a delight to read the real story behind Australia’s health problems, especially when written by a medical doctor. Those of us who already have an insight into the vested interests of the orthodox medical world – and the illnesses they cause – can only feel inspired and elated by such refreshingly accurate information. 223 pages in large type and exceedingly easy to read – in fact, it is difficult to put the book down.

Dealing with the core of Australia’s health problems, this book is largely about ‘Syndrome-X’ or ‘Hyperinsulinaemia Syndrome’, meaning high levels of insulin in the blood and the cascade of diseases that result from it. These include diabetes type-2, obesity, high blood pressure, heart disease and even cancer. A century ago, these were rare or non-existent. Many doctors have not even heard of syndrome-X.

Death By Civilization packs quite a punch. As an example, here are some gems from the important chapter on cholesterol, in which the author demonstrates that he is right up to date. “Cholesterol is probably the biggest con of the 20th Century.” People with so-called ‘high’ cholesterol are told by orthodox doctors to go on a diet and if this doesn’t bring it down, they will need a drug. But the dietary advice is wrong – and will probably make things worse. Research has shown that there is no direct connection between eating cholesterol and the levels in the blood. Further, where do orthodox doctors get their dietary information from? Answer: the drug companies. “How convenient! Recommend a diet that does not work, so that [patients] can be put on a drug.”

Does high cholesterol actually cause heart disease? No. In fact, for people over age 50, it’s the opposite – the higher the cholesterol, the higher the life expectancy. The chapter is completed with an account of the damage caused by cholesterol-lowering drugs.

Dr Baratosy is an Adelaide ‘wholistic’ general practitioner and Fellow of the Australian College of Nutritional and Environmental Medicine. He is also author of Vaccination: It’s Your Informed Choice, It Can Still Be Your Thyroid, Gut Feelings, There Is Always An Alternative and Can Your Really Believe What Your Doctor Tells You?
