Product Information:

Author: Zoltan Rona, MD, MSc
An elusive condition to diagnose that affects around one in a hundred of the population, mostly women. Widespread chronic pain and sleep problems are typical symptoms. Once ignored by medicine, fibromyalgia is now better recognised as a physical illness. Solutions mainly involve nutrition and supplements. A very easy-to-read book of just 60 pages in the alive Natural Health Guides series.
This booklet could be very helpful for anyone suffering fibromyalgia. It is written by a wholistic doctor who states, “Regardless of what you have been told by the more pessimistic members of the medical profession, you can now take advantage of some of the latest advancements and return to a normal or optimal state of health without taking dangerous drugs. Conventional medicine offers no cure, however, many natural strategies and treatments do.”
Slowly disappearing are the bad old days of doctors telling patients that, because their standard tests cannot find the cause of the pain, sleep deprivation and chronic fatigue, their problems must be all in the mind. Diagnosis is difficult because no two cases of the condition are identical, but, nevertheless, lists of possible symptoms – as given in this book – can be a useful guide, even to the lay person.
The all-important question, what causes fibromyalgia, is answered as auto-immunity. However, in Natural Health, we know from long experience that virtually all the chronic pain illnesses like rheumatoid arthritis, rheumatism, bursitis, etc, and also auto-immunity itself, have a common underlying cause in the form of acidic toxaemia. When this is internal pollution is overcome by detoxification, it pulls the rug out from under the cause of illness and recovery normally follows.
Fortunately, the dietary and other changes required to deal with auto-immune conditions invariably lower toxaemia, so the end result is essentially the same. Therefore, we believe that Fighting Fibromyalgia can help achieve genuine, long-term improvement without drugs. And being explained so simply should be a great help to the sufferer.
The role of ‘leaky gut’ is helpful in understanding fibromyalgia. This is followed by solutions for dealing with the foods that are likely to underlie allergies and sensitivities. Straightforward lists show the sufferer clearly where they might get started in bringing about recovery.
A major part is also played by nutritional supplements. There are detailed explanations of the value and dosage of essential fatty acids, antioxidants (including grape-seed extract), the ‘mighty’ magnesium, malic acid, amino acids, hydrochloric acid and enzymes (such as bromelain in pineapple). Similarly outlines are given for herbs, anti-fungals, probiotics and hormones.
The book closes with 10 recipes, shown in full colour plates, in which the ingredients are all of plant origin and likely to be very appealing to people who want to overcome allergies and sensitivities.
Fighting Fibromyalgia looks like a book of good, sound advice with the potential to bring rewarding results to sufferers of fibromyalgia.
