November 12 (@2pm AEDT)  Dr Deanna MinichEating the Rainbow: The Science of Colourful, Plant-based Food and Practical Strategies”.

Dr. Deanna Minich is a nutrition researcher, educator, and functional medicine-trained clinician with a unique approach to nutrition. She is the author of six books on nutrition, wellness, and psychology, and is passionate in helping others to live well using therapeutic lifestyle changes. Very few researchers and clinicians have an understanding of physiology and psychology to the depth Dr Minich has, she will change the way you look at food.

Dr Minich has served on the Institute of Functional Medicine’s Nutrition Advisory Board and curriculum committee, in addition to being a faculty member. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for the American Nutrition Association and is President of the American College of Nutrition. Her academic background is in nutritional science, including a Master’s Degree in Human Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of Illinois at Chicago (1995), and a Ph.D. in Medical Sciences (Nutrition) from the University of Groningen in The Netherlands (1999). In conjunction with her academic degrees and extensive teaching experience at the university level, she is a Fellow of the American College of Nutrition and a Certified Nutrition Specialist. Dr. Minich has over twenty years of experience working in both the food and dietary supplement industries, is the Vice President of Scientific Affairs for Organic India, serves as advisor to various food, academic and health organisations, and has more than forty published scientific articles in journals such as Nutrients, Journal of Nutrition and Metabolism, and Nutrition Reviews. She teaches for the graduate program (MS) in Human Nutrition and Functional Medicine at the University of Western States.

 

November 18 (7pm AEDT)  Candace Coughlan, Natural Health Coach.  “Healthy Foods made Simple (and delicious)!”

The food we choose to eat plays a crucial role in our health. Every bite takes us closer or further away from health.
How can we get simple, yet tasty, nutritious foods into our diet?

Join us for a delicious culinary nutrition experience, where you’ll discover the important role food plays in health and vitality and what to eat in order to support your overall health as well as gain practical experience cooking recipes.

All of the recipes are vegetarian; (vegan, gluten, & dairy adaptable) and utterly delicious.
You will walk away from this workshop with:
• An understanding of the best foods to eat for health and what to avoid.

• A solid grasp of culinary skills that will invite you to cook with confidence

November 25 (7pm AEDT) Dr Isabel Hunsinger “Prevent and Reverse Alzheimer’s and Cognitive Decline.”

Dr Isabel Hunsinger is a doctor on a mission, she wants to see people healed. For the past 10 years, her medical practice has focused on functional medicine. Dr Hunsinger works alongside her husband, Culinary Nutrition Expert Chef Michael. Their expertise is in Alzheimer’s, Dementia, Cognitive Decline, Anxiety, Depression, and Diabetes.

Dr Hunsinger has been a medical doctor since 1991, and now specialises in functional medicine. She is a Fellow of the Royal New Zealand College of General Practice and a Member of the Institute of Functional Medicine (USA). Dr Hunsinger’s approach addresses the root cause of disease, using a systems approach, and engages people in a therapeutic partnership.

December 2  (7pm AEDT)  Genevieve Mlotkowski Naturopath. “Nutrition and Genetics.”

Genevieve is an Accredited Member of the Australian Traditional Medicine Society and National Herbalists Association of Australia with 2 decades of experience in the health industry. Genevieve develops strong relationships with her clients as she deep dives into their personal and genetic history to develop individualised treatment approaches. In this presentation, Genevieve will use her extensive experience in biomedical assessment and testing to explore the role our diets and genetics play in our health and dis-ease.

December 9  (7pm AEDT) Heidi Hogarth Naturopath. “Holistic Hormonal Harmony.”

Motivated by her own debilitating & lonely experience with depression & pre-menstrual dysphoric disorder, Heidi’s focus in clinical practice lies in supporting others to regain power over menstrual mood cycles and balance body & mind naturally so they can feel calm, confident and empowered. Heidi will speak about hormone balancing via food, supplements and herbs.  Heidi is a firm believer body-mind medicine, meaning that balancing your body’s biochemistry has a powerful positive impact on mental and emotional wellbeing. One of the keys to holistic health is learning how to incorporate healthy eating, self-care and good lifestyle choices into our daily routines, so that it feels easy, natural and joyful. Heidi holds a Bachelor of Health Science, Bachelor of Arts, an Advanced Diploma of Naturopathy, a Diploma of Nutrition, and Metabolic Balance Practitioner Certification. She is an accredited fellow of the professional association, the Australian Traditional Medicine Society (ATMS).
