NHSA MANAGER – Position Description

Position Title:  Manager of the Natural Health Society of Australia

Term of Office:  As per contract period

Reports to:  President of the Natural Health Society and National Committee

Management decisions support and implement the Society’s goals and values.  The Manager makes operational decisions and oversees administrative work for the Society to ensure that it runs efficiently.

Role of Management versus the National Committee:

The National Committee is responsible for planning.  Management executes the plans.  When resources are limited, management shares, or undertakes, some of the work of the Committee.

KEY ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES

The Manager:

  • Oversees administrative matters for the Society and implements improvements
  • Has delegated authority to incur expenditure to an agreed limit without Committee approval on matters in line with Committee decisions and guidelines
  • Works with contracted external agencies and implements suggested strategies in conjunction with the Committee
  • Participates in budget analysis and forecasting
  • Co-ordinates communication with other organisations, agencies and businesses
  • Uses initiative to start agreed projects and oversees them from start to finish
  • Oversees the magazine editorial sub-committee
  • Co-ordinates special groups set up to assist the Society
  • Contributes to ongoing website improvements
  • Maintains compliance with Government regulations on not-for-profit organisations
  • Delegates tasks as required
  • Writes grants where required
  • Is willing to adapt to change and respond to challenges
  • Provides a monthly report to the National Committee

TIME DEMANDS

  • Working hours as per contract
  • Participation in Committee meetings, approximately 2 hours in length, on the second Tuesday of the month
  • Attend and actively participate in the Annual General Meeting (includes Committee elections and is followed by a Committee meeting – approximately 3 hours), and attend special meetings
  • Attendance at special events organised by the Society
